Starting in 2007, Morning Star Productions has sought to give children the opportunity to be involved in real, clean, God honoring drama.
2007 – Morning Star of Truth
The life of John Wycliffe marked the beginning of the reformation and the rediscovery of God’s Word. Despite obstacles, persecution and even the black plague, Wycliffe worked tirelessly so that “If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than (the religious leaders).”
2008 – Hymns of the Heart
We performed four plays examining the lives of James Black, Horatio Spafford, John Newton and George Young, to see what inspired them to write such well
beloved hymns as When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder, It Is Well,
Amazing Grace and God Leads Us Along. The following year, expounded on the play about “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and turned it into the movie “Bessie”
2009 – Prince of Egypt
The story of Moses performed as extended mime to the music from the DreamWorks film – Prince of Egypt. The kids performed this show with such expression and skill, we decided that mimes were a wonderful way to practice expressive acting and choreography without dividing their attention between trying to memorize lines and speak loudly. The performance was also accompanied by several short skits from Aesop’s fables.
2010 – Living for Jesus
Performing the life stories of George Beverly Shea, Edward Spencer and Fanny Crosby, we examined their music, ministries and life callings. During our devotion time, we discussed the messages contained in each play so that the actors could challenge their audience to serve the Lord with all of their heart and all of their strength for all of their life.
